Theater

Almost everybody hates auditions but they are a necessary requirement you have to pass before you will be able to practice your skill in theatre. Here are some audition techniques that would make the process easier and more convenient.

Stage Play

Stage Play

a. Know the play you want to participate in. It would be better if you have completely read the script to make you more enthusiastic about a role.

b. Consider the Location. Know the production, who and what they are so that you will have an idea where they rehearse. If rehearsals are way out of town then it could certainly give you more hassle.

c. Consider the roles you are most suitable to play. Your own characteristics and appearance will be main factors in deciding what type of role you should play. Ask the in-charge what they are expecting for a particular role.

d. Always come prepared. Prepare for the part you are going to read. Familiarise yourself with the character’s stand, walk and bearing. Embody their style, what might they wear and the hairstyle they prefer. Let the director know that you have taken extra time just to get ready for that certain character’s role.

e. Be at the audition venue early. In this way, you will get the feel of the place first, making you more relaxed. Although auditions can be nerve-racking, it could actually be fun too.
